Meet Chiquetta E. Simmons, CEO & Founder

Who I Am

I founded Carolina Fiduciary Services in 2013 after nearly two decades in the legal profession. My path to this work began in the courtroom and led me to a deeper purpose: advocating for those who cannot advocate for themselves.

My Background

I am a Charleston native, born and raised in the Lowcountry. I began my legal career in 1992 and spent 18 years as a paralegal working in civil litigation, family law, criminal defense, personal injury, pharmaceutical litigation, entertainment law and medical malpractice at firms across South Carolina and Georgia - including Motley Rice LLC, one of the nation's largest plaintiffs' litigation firms.

In 2010, I transitioned into Fiduciary work as a Conservator at Family Services, Inc. (now Origin SC), where I managed over 150 conservatorship cases across Charleston, Dorchester, and Berkeley Counties. I handled every aspect of financial management for incapacitated adults and minors: protecting assets, paying bills, coordinating with attorneys and healthcare providers, preparing court petitions, and testifying before the Probate Court.

In 2013, I launched Carolina Fiduciary Services to serve Veterans as a Federal Fiduciary appointed by the Department of Veterans Affairs. Over the past 12 years, I have built a successful practice currently managing cases across South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.

In 2025, I returned to the Probate Court for Conservatorship appointments and was appointed by the Charleston County Probate Court as a professional Conservator. I am now actively serving the Charleston legal community and accepting new conservatorship appointments.

Why I Chose this Work

After years in litigation, I found my true calling in fiduciary services. There is something deeply meaningful about protecting someone who cannot protect themselves - making sure their bills are paid, their assets are safe, their dignity is preserved.
